Born in Ireland in 1946, Seoirse Ó Dochartaigh studied Fine Art at the Ulster College of Art, Belfast. He taught in various schools in Ireland but later studied for an MA at University College Cork exploring correlations between art and music. He has exhibited all over Europe and the Americas. A high point was a show at the Schubertkirche in Vienna in 1996 with 20 Die schöne Müllerin paintings catalogued in Irish Gaelic and German and opened by the then Irish Ambassador. A DVD was made of the paintings with the corresponding music. Ó Dochartaigh is also a singer and guitarist with seven successful studio albums to his credit. He has published four books and lectures regularly as a freelancer. His deluxe full-colour book “Sunlight and Shadow” (2016) explores the world of Irish classical music, illustrated throughout with his paintings. Artist’s website: www.seoirse.com
